This test is used to help isolate problems accessing websites. Follow the steps below:

  1. Determine the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the website you are having trouble accessing. To do this click inside the address bar at the top of the browser (Chrome, Edge, or Firefox) windows and press the Home key on the keyboard. The FQDN will be the characters between the "https://" and the first "/" character after that. For example, the FQDN of "https://www.cnn.com/abc/xyx" is "www.cnn.com".
  2. Right-click on the Windows Start icon at the bottom-left of the screen and then click Windows PowerShell.
  3. In the Windows PowerShell window that opens up, type "ping" followed by a space and then the FQDN of the website you are having trouble accessing, i.e., "ping www.cnn.com". Then press the Enter key.
  4. The system will make 4 ping attempts and stop. After that, click the symbol at the top-left of the PowerShell window and select Edit / Select All. then click it again and select Edit / Copy.
  5. Finally, open your support ticket, click Add Note at the bottom, and then right-click in the note and select Paste to paste the ping responses into the note. Then click Add Note at the bottom-right to post the note.
